Winter Car Hack: Use Cooking Spray to Stop Car Doors from Freezing!

December 31, 2019

Driving in the winter weather can cause stress and be frustrating at times if you find that your vehicle has completely frozen over, making it more timely to get to your destination. There a few winter car hacks that have been tested that aim to make your life easier when it comes to severely cold weather. Often times, rain or snow can cause the rubber seal between your car doors to freeze, making it difficult to get inside. Here is a fun and safe car hack that involves using good ol' cooking spray to prevent this from happening!

Here are the steps for using cooking spray to prevent car doors from freezing:

  1. Try to do this process during the afternoon for the next day, such as when you get home from work. Remember, this is a preventative hack so you should aim to do this before the coldest time of the day or night.
  2. Grab cooking spray from inside your home.
  3. Open your car door and spray the cooking spray on the rubber seal that lines your car door. Be sure to get all sides of the door.
  4. Repeat this process for all of your car's doors, if you will need them.

We hope that you try out this helpful car hack this winter to prevent your car doors from freezing shut. If you have a question about your vehicle or need a winter inspection, don't hesitate to give us a call here at Dave's Automotive or stop by our shop today!
